Profile: John McKie is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics. He has a PhD in philosophy, with a long-standing interest in ethical issues in health economics. Before coming to the Centre, Dr McKie was a lecturer in bioethics in the Centre for Human Bioethics at Monash University, and has tutored in philosophy at the University of Adelaide, the University of New England, and the University of Melbourne. His main research interests are in the measurement of social values, and equity issues in priority setting. Along with Jeff Richardson, the founding Director of the Centre for Health Economics, he is the author of the following book: John McKie, Jeff Richardson, Peter Singer and Helga Kuhse, The Allocation of Health Care Resources: An Ethical Evaluation of the 'QALY' Approach (Aldershot: Ashgate Publishing Company, 1998).
